Packaging Issue

When the couch arrived the packaging was very badly damaged. I'm not moving for another 2 weeks so I don't want to open it yet but I did rip open the box in the damaged areas, which are one the surface of the leather or imitation, I'm not sure if it's leather, I didn't see either way in the product descriptions, but the couch seemed to be in good shape, I will know more later but so far seems like a good purchase despite the packaging issue. I should also not that not only were the tears in the box on the surface of the couch, but the protective plastic bag was ripped beyond the holes which were from 6 to 10 inches long and in multiple directions. I'm posting a picture of the damage but I wouldn't discourage someone from purchasing the other one. I think I will be happy with the purchase.

Loveseat excellent, service from company TERRIBLE

The loveseat is excellent and beautiful. The delivery and customer service from the company was a nightmare. Be prepared to hire another moving company to bring the loveseat inside your house and place it. The company customer service would not answer my calls to discuss and work out the problem. The delivery company they hired said they couldn't help me either. My suggestion, call the company and find out exactly what you have to do to have it delivered the way you want it and then decide if the price is worth it.

DON'T BUY THIS FURNITURE!

Aside from the fact that it arrived with a tear on the footrest, this was the most UNCOMFORTABLE piece of furniture I have ever sat on and the footrests popped up so fast that I got a leg bruise from being hit by one. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND COASTER FURNITURE AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE! It was attractive, but that's ALL. It actually made my hips hurt it was so hard and uncomfortable. MADE IN CHINA. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU DON'T PLAN TO SIT ON IT. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!!!

Beautiful couch, but...

First off, I will say that I didn't buy this couch from this seller off the web. I bought furniture off the web several years ago and had a terrible experience and vowed that I would never ever buy furniture off the internet again. So when my wife decided this is the couch she wanted, I went all around town and found a local dealer that carried this item. I ended up paying more than what I would have if I had bought it off the internet, but I figured paying a little more to work with someone local was worth it.We bought the sofa and the loveseat. Both are absolutely beautiful and exactly as the picture shows. Both sofa and loveseat were packed with styrofoam, cardboard, bubble wrap, and plastic. It definitely looked like some care had gone into packing the items. These are the positives.Now comes the negatives. First, it's made in China. :( Second, despite the care in packing, there were multiple defect in both pieces. It is my opinion that these defects originated in the factory and were not a result of the shipping process. Example of defects include: frayed stitching, several 1/4" diameter scuffs in the leather where the color was completely missing, and several chips and/or missing finish in various areas on the wood. Given how the sofa and loveseat were packaged, I can't imagine how some of these defects could have occurred during shipping. I think it was careless oversight at the factory. Even if the damage did occur during shipping, there is no excuse and they should come up with an even better method of packing.

I found this sleeper sofa/sectional set on Amazon but it was only available in black. I contacted Stendmar directly (corresponded with Wayne) asked them if I could get the set in espresso and they told me that they didn't have any in stock; however, that they expected some the following week and when they did they would make it available on Amazon and let me know once they loaded it on the site so I could place my order. They followed through and did exactly as they said.I received the furniture, it was packaged very well, and was in excellent condition; however, there was a slight issue...it appeared that there was some mold on it. I spoke with Stendmar customer service (Wayne) and sent pictures. Although the mold was easily wiped off, Stendmar insisted on sending me an entire new set. I received the new set a week later. It isn't often that you receive such incredible customer service. I would recommend their products and the company to anyone.

Best Couch, Best Value

We searched and searched for an attractive sectional that could turn into a bed and after months came upon this couch from stendmar. This is the best couch ever! The top is real leather and the rest is fake although for the price we though no parts were real leather. It converts very simply into a bed with little effort and anyone can do it. It looks chic and is perfect for small places. Can't say enough good things about this couch. The people at stendmar is super helpful and friendly too.

Very Happy

We are very happy with our purchase. Of course, it's scary buying such a big item without seeing, touching, and sitting on it. The couch has clean lines, and looks elegant and modern. The color is gray -- but it's more like interwoven black and white stitch. We were unsure about the color but have come to like it. Cushions are sturdy. If you could spend $5k or so, i would look at some of the higher end couches -- but I feel like i would be comfortable having my fanciest friends lounge on this couch. Overall, it's a great couch.

very dissappointed

I was so disappointed with the online purchased for this living room set. The order was delivered in 3 weeks. Upon unpacking and assembling I noticed that the color was not similar to what they have on the website pictures. The materials are cheap looking and the bonded leather was so thin that your finger nails could easily puncture it. Right after setting up the entire cushion, I noticed that one of them has a pulled thread and I called customer service right away. They were helpful and told me to wait for response from the manufacturer. The following day I saw 3 of the cushion seat have snags and it's pulling off from the fabrics. I called the customer service again to inform them and sent pictures for proof. I was told that manufacturer had already shipped a replacement for the first damage cushion seat. Again I was told to wait and they will send my other complain to the manufacturer. A week had past and I was not getting any feedback so I started sending e-mails to the dealer's customer service and response suddenly became slow. On the second week I called, left messages on the person that's handling my complain and still no answer. I decided to take this matter to the manager but a supervisor took my call instead. I explained the situation and my disappointment and I told her that I want to return the furniture and I was asking for a full refund but she promised she would call the manufacturer and will get a possible resolution as soon as possible. The following day she emailed me to let me know that the manufacturer will not ship anything anymore and they will just give me a discount of $350 to go towards the re upholstering if I wish to do so. I told her to re upholster all six cushion will cost more than $350 but then she said that's the best offer that they can do and nothing more. Wow! I paid $2400.00 for a merchandise that has very poor quality materials and supposedly a year of warranty! The cloth material is like a jersey knit or like a knitted yarn that would easily snags. You cannot flip the cushion seat because there's a Velcro on the flip side to prevent it from moving when you stand up. So if the cushion chair is already lopsided no way you could flip it over. The cushion is very hard and not comfortable to sit in. The bonded leather is cheap looking thin materials. The other color on the pillows and sides are maroon, greenish gray and light brown. More on the maroon side. Cushion seat are darker than the website picture. Over all it was a big mistake to order a living room set online. Not worth $2400.00. Lastly, no return, no exchange and i am stuck with it.

fantastic classic-style sofa

Just love the sofa. It is sturdy. The hardwood trim and leather are of good quality. It looks very elegant, similar to much more expensive sofas.I don't see at all what previous review's comment on how thin the leather is. The leather feels and looks like the leather on any other up-scale leather furniture.

Leather bonded beautiful, Cushion are stiff giving items some use to work in which I prefer not cheap stuffing fully covered cushion, with velcro straps under. Your cushion wont slide but they don't seem like they would any way at all. Color of cushion is a nice color for contrast gives great difination very beautiful design, beautiful material on back and hiddened pocket under the couch for storing of the legs that attached when set up at home. Very nice hiding place may keep that in mind. The picture gives a good idea what it looks like so dont be afraid of that. Very beautiful furniture. Cushion are stiff needs to be used, but this is good you want them to last. I seen cushion break down over time and need to be replaced so this is not a bad. As far as smell goes There is none I no other's complained of smell mine does not at all. Very pleased with Both love seat and couch

Love it!!!

This is a beautiful sectional which has added plenty of seating to my living room. It has clean lines without looking cold and I love the shade of brown...it's totally yummy. The couch is low-profile, so you should be prepared for that, but still I can't say how much I've enjoyed the couch. The chaise portion is nice and wide so you can really get comfortable and sprawl out if you wanted to. Assembling the legs was a snap. All in all, a great buy. And the leather is fabulous.

I just received this set today. The sectional and the ottoman are gorgeous. The set is well-made. The color is so beautiful. And...it is so comfortable. Very nice sleek lines....even for a traditional girl like me. :) It's a must buy! Love it.

One Beautiful Sectional!

We had never purchased furniture of any kind on line before so were pretty nervous about what to expect.. Luckily our worries were unfounded. We had an oversized sofa and love seat before purchasing this sectional. This totally opens up our living room and makes it feel much larger!! We searched long and hard in our area to find a sectional that was real leather at a decent price -- no such luck.. SO glad we held out till we found this one on amazon. I'm off to buy the matching ottoman now!!

A Very Solid Reproduction for the Money

If you like Knoll furniture (read: have taste) but lack Knoll money (read: haven't sold your majority stake in that whole Google "thing"), this is a good purchase. I did a lot of research on the Knoll knock offs on the market - this seems to be in the least expensive group. I was wary on buying this, since even inexpensive Knoll knock off money is still real money. I have now had this for a little over a month and a half, so I can give you a breakdown of the good and bad.1) Looks - The dimensions are spot on and it is a VERY faithful copy. A good friend of mine's family business is running a vintage furniture shop that sells mostly mid-century modern and memphis era pieces, and he agreed with my assessment. I had some house guests a few weeks ago, and everyone commented that it looked really, "cool."One thing, the couch I received did not have the center leg that was in the photo. No big deal; it doesn't feel any less sturdy, but that photo should be corrected. Other than that, the photo is accurate. This is a slight negative, but doesn't really detract from the product.2) Leather - You aren't getting full-grain analine here, but you are getting decent leather on the cushions. It isn't particularly thick and will likely require some deligent care to keep in good condition. It is still in very good shape after the month and half of daily sitting. I will update this if it goes south later in the year.3) Comfort - The cushions were unbelievably stiff when I got it. It took about three weeks, but they have broken in and now the couch is pretty comfortable. However, I am worried that this may mean that the cushioning will go completely limp later in the year, I will update if that happens. There is access to the cushioning, so if I do need to replace it, its not that big of a deal.4) Delivery - The packaging was REALLY sturdy. There was a forest of cardboard that surrounded it, and it was wrapped repeatedly with plastic. There was a woodcrate skeleton around it. Like a complete idiot, the delivery guy and I took it into the house to open up the crating even though the weather was perfect. Since the thing is a definite two person lift, that was where it was going to stay. You WILL have a mess after uncrating it.There was an issue with the couch. When I opened it, I was shocked to fine a rusty, mud film on the couch cushions. It wiped off with some cleaner and a rag, but I am not sure what it was, or whether this was an issue of a lack of dessicants. Regardless, the leather was not pitted or damaged, although the couch smelled a bit musty for the first week. Not a huge deal.There are also no snaps to hold the back cushions in place, so expect the center cushion to not stay put. Not a big deal, and I am considering a quick mod to keep it in place. But this should be a simple fix.OVERALL: 4 out of 5. This is probably the best deal you are going to find on a Knoll-copy. That being said there were some issues, but nothing major enough to make me dissatisfied with the purchase. The good far outweighs any negative and at this price point, you will not do better.

Not worth the money

For the money, there are way better couches you can buy. If you really want a Florence Sofa replica in this price range, I'd highly consider the fabric version.The leather version is a joke. The seams don't align and the leather is really fragile. I've sat on this, ~4 times now, and the buttons are now a different color than the leather itself - and I don't wear pants or jeans that bleed. I don't wear belts, and somehow the piping has gotten scratched. This is compared to a bi-cast leather sectional I had in my previous home for 6 years, that didn't have even a scratch on it when I sold it after heavy use.The feet on this sofa have plastic covers that are essentially randomly selected squares of plastic... they are not finished in any way and look hideous.The comfort... wait, the what? the cushions are slabs of granite. Any thought of comfort should be left at the doorstep when you're entering your living room. And to further that sentiment, the back cushions have no way to attach to the back wall. Given that its support wall is half the height of the cushion itself, when you sit, the back will wobble, come off, fall back, fall forward, and do all sorts of unnatural things but will not give you comfort - remember you left that hope at the doorstep.Oh, and the delivery company that is used to ship this is a marvel in itself. They are severely disorganized, requiring you to call 3-4 times to confirm that they will be delivering in the week they estimated delivery (the online system never updates, and nobody calls you). Once you've taken the day off from work, bless your soul if you live in the city. Their trucks will refuse to navigate into inner streets and if they do, they will park a few blocks away and will make you push the crates to your building doorstep. They will then refuse to bring it indoors.I wish I could return these, and buy something more comfortable for the money. Even something from Ikea. But no, now I'm stuck with these uncomfortable, and unsightly slabs of stone. Please consider something else or the fabric versions of this couch.

Day One Update.

Ok i just got this sofa in today. Here's the breakdown.Shipping was odd. Ignore the Amazon status of "shipped" they will call you about 5 days before it arrives to set up a delivery time. They were flexible for 2 days with when it will arrive. My delivery time took from the time of my order being placed to it walking in my door was 11 days. The shipping time for me they gave me a 4 hour window 9am - 1pm. The delivery guy called me at 930 to let me know he was around the corner. No problem with the delivery guy he helped me carry the sofa to my house (about 6 steps) and moved it into my living room.The thing was wrapped like a burrito. A large layer of plastic wrap and another thick layer of bubble wrap. Of which revealed a wooden skeleton surrounding a cardboard box. (I'll include a photo of this). I opened the whole thing up with a kitchen knife with zero problems. The amount of packing material will fill up about 3 standard recycling bins (those big green ones)! So make sure you have space or a big dumpster handy. Its for sure more material than you would think upon first glance.Now for the sofa itself. It looks great! Some of my worries were that the back pillows would fly off if i sat down in it. So i set the thing up and had a good sit.. then a leaping sit.. then quickly sat down and then did my best to try to make them come off... they didn't. I also leaned back and nothing. I think you really have to try to get these pillows to move. Also i think i MAY put some velcro on the back to keep it in place, but again; may.The cushions are VERY stiff like people said, but they also feel like they will beak in.. I know you hate to hear that and it doesn't help but it's my first assessment and i think its an accurate one. I don't see the back breaking in much as they won't get much 'sitting' but the bottom; for sure. I'll make sure to update this in a few months as i'm pretty active on Amazon.The sofa is what it is. Is more attractive than it is comfy.. But if you're considering this sofa im sure you're not in the market for a big ugly floppy brown sofa your grand dad could fall a sleep in. You want something pretty and fits into your mid century / modern style. And that what it is... You can for sure host a cocktail party and people wouldn't complain having a sit.Personally i looked for months trying to find a quality sofa beautiful that i would love and wouldn't cost as much as a car... For me this is a step in the right direction... Sure this isn't a 10,000 dollar beautiful tuffed leather chesterfield that will last you generations. But for the price, its most likely the best you're gonna do. Go for it!!(i'll post photos)
